We are the Copenhaver family. My wife, Alison, and I are blessed to have two young bundles of energy otherwise known as Carson and Catelyn that keep us on our toes at all times. In our free time, we enjoy tackling home improvement and DIY projects. Our 1970s home can use all the love it can get!

My appreciation for quality, handcrafted wooden pieces based on a simple design started when my dad and I restored an old warehouse door and repurposed it into my college desk. It was a simple project, but enough to ignite a spark that years later would turn into a passion, and now a new endeavor. That desk is still with me 16 years later, and serves as headquarters for Copewood.

I’ve been building / fixing / restoring stuff, taking pictures along the way and sharing before / after results with friends & family for several years. Recently, I felt compelled to “go big” because I love seeing the enjoyment and sense of satisfaction people get when they accomplish a DIY project on their own. There is such a great sense of pride we all get when crafting something with our own hands. I’m also a big fan of teaching the next generation the basic skills of DIY and woodworking in particular.

At Copewood, our purpose is to help you build your memories by sharing easy-to-follow plans for making your own handcrafted furniture and home decor.  With our step-by-step plans, it’s simplier than you think!

Our philosophy is simple, and one borrowed from the late Zig Ziglar…

“You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want” -Zig Ziglar

Our hope is that each design adds an extra touch of character and pride to your home!

Thank you for stopping by and we look forward to building with you!

Not our normal weekend warrior attire, but it’s nice to know Alison and I can still dress the part for going out on the town once in a while!
