Carson started his tool collection early in life. By age 4, he seemed to have a kid-version of most of my tools. I remember Santa asking him what he wanted for Christmas a couple of years ago, to which Carson replied, “a chainsaw!” Even though Santa was a little caught off guard, if you look closely in the photo above, you’ll see that he delivered!

So it only seems natural that Carson would want a kid-sized version of Daddy’s workbench, right?! This was a great father & son project. The best part is that the opportunity for customizing with add-ons is endless. Check out these ‘bonus features’ in the gallery below. We added hanging mason jars, a workbench light, a measuring stick, and Carson’s favorite, a real-deal bench vise!

  • 1x   3/4″ x 2′ x 4′ plywood (sandply)
  • 1x   32″ x 22″ sheet of pegboard (note: depending on what store you go to, you may be required to purchase a full 4′ x 8′ sheet…no worries, there are countless uses for extra pegboard!)
  • 1x   32″ x 14″ sheet of hardboard (same note above regarding extra material applies here)
  • 1-1/4″ Pocket Hole Screws
  • 1″ Pocket Hole Screws
  • 3/4″ 18g Brad Nails
